SharePoint is best for Office docs. It’s not great for anything else, especially binary files, or files that link to other files. And you’ll probably run into file lock issues if they’re edited by multiple people.

If there’s a clear delineation you can use for separate sites, use it. For a ~40 person business we just had one site. For a ~4000 person business we had one for each business unit. It’s just an additional layer. Quantity of files and folders could be a factor, depending on how much you will be using it.

Also, if you’re in any kind of regulated industry, keep that in mind.

Ahh, all our people work at desks inside, usually even when they’re in the field. Dell aluminum shells don’t retain or discolor much. A rubber/plastic ruggedized one would be a different story entirely.

Meh. Most of our laptops stay with the user until replaced. If not, they usually come off pretty easily, and a little goo gone does the rest.

I’m sure it’s gotten worse since Microsoft fired QA and devs and replaced them with AI, but Outlook and Exchange have always been weird and buggy.

I personally haven’t been a mail admin for a few years so nothing comes to mind, but similarly, the recent update to the Outlook mobile app, at least on iOS, moved the reply button from its prominent location to the message three-doy menu. Like the #1 thing people do with a message, that I’m sure their analytics show, was hidden in a menu.

Connection encryption is pretty low on the list of priorities for database security. Proper accounts and rights management is far more important.

SQL traffic shouldn’t really run over anything but short LAN links. Ideally separated from other stuff entirely, but just not spewed over your whole LAN, and really not over the Internet at all.

TLS is good, yes, but unless you’re also validating those certs they don’t mean much. Client certs would be even better.
