I’m not sure why people consider it a Christophany. Jesus was not incarnate yet, so I don’t think it was the 2nd person of the trinity.

I think the church needs to learn how to love people no matter whether they agree with their life styles.

Jesus certainly taught that by example in his life.

1. Boomers and GenXers don’t like that, either. So we haven’t done anything like that in many years.

2. That’s an excellent sugguestion. And I’ve learned that it’s much better to join what people are already doing in the area, rather than replicate it or start something new as a church that is already being done by others in the same city.

That unfortunately took quite awhile to get to. The baptists had a lot to do with religious freedom since they were almost always persecuted by the more dominant views.

Roger Williams and the founding of Rhode Island was a big leap forward in that regard.

Besides a recovery of the true gospel…

It seems that the start of getting people and nations to not be so reliant on a central authority (the Pope) and start governing for themselves. Yes, there were still monarchies, but the trend toward self-governance and democracy was really pushed forward and made possible by the Reformation.

That’ll be great for most communities. That’s the exact opposite of what I want for a few specific ones though

All browsing is what really sucks for some niche communities. Until we have the ability to exclude our communities from all, these niche communities don’t have a chance to survive.

Those are good points.

I’ll also say that I think it was arrogant of me to just try to understand the Bible without the input of centuries of good scholars, especially when they are like-minded to me, building on the same foundational principles (eg. The Bible is innerant and God’s word)

I don’t struggle with paedobaptism, I just reject it. :-D

Yeah, I had trouble with limited atonement for a good while too. John Piper had a class that I watched on it and really helped me understand the fuller meaning of that point (along with calling it ‘Definite Atonement’ instead)

For me, I just didn’t get confessionalism. I thought, why care so much about a confession when there’s the Bible. Just read the Bible.

How would you explain confessionalism to someone that’s unfamiliar with it?
