Also the home server is too loud. But it’s idle most of the time. So I would need to enter the bios to change the fan settings. But for that I’d need a GPU that fits in there. So now I have to buy a GPU first just to enter the BIOS once and change the fan settings. I figured it is not possible to change fan settings as root user on Linux?

Should adopt the hot sorting from reddit. With how Lemmy hot works, new posts are always on top of hot. On Reddit, they need to be voted up quite a bit before even having a chance of appearing on hot.

You could create a license that makes it illegal to process information about the users in that way. Obviously, someone is gonna violate it, but all the respectable instances will at least not, since they usually don’t operate out of reach of working jurisdictions.

Yeah database protection is even for stuff that you don’t own. You have then spent effort to compile the database. Which in this case is the collection of people’s posts. But maybe asks lawyer if that applies in this case.

I have no idea, but at least in EU you may be violating copyright by copying someone else’s database (i.e. collection of data). I am not a lawyer though…

This may be against reddits TOS and may have legal consequences. But I guess mostly for the person operating the bot, and not the Lemmy instance, as long as they block the bot on request.
