Lemmy isn’t really a Signal/Messenger/Teams/Zoom application.

You can run multiple frontends and backends on multiple machines. And I’m pretty sure that you can also run PostgreSQL on multiple machines.

I would honestly drop the “link aggregator” part completely and just call it “discussion forum” or “discussion platform”. “Link aggregator” sounds pretty technical and like it just collects links which seems almost pointless. And the links aren’t even mandatory when creating a post.

I never get the duplicate communities complaint. Just about every topic has at least three communities on Reddit.

It’s not trivial. I remember at least two instances of a bigish Lemmy server having problems with images and federation because of Anubis.

There are clients that group posts that link to the same URL and show comments from all instances. And I think Piefed does that as well.

The sources are up on Github and accept pull requests and bugreports. That would be the first place I’d look.

I was moving to a new city. I found exactly two jobs available. One was for some address selling company which meant that there was exactly one other job available. I found that job through some shady job scraping website that still had a link to a PDF.

I emailed the lady in the PDF and sent her my résumé. After a while I got a reply from another guy and got invited for an interview.

Apparently the PDF was horribly outdated. The lady mentioned in there hasn’t been working for the company in years. But coincidentally they were just about to post another job opening. So I just slid in there and got the job.

Go to the hamburger menu in the upper right corner, then settings, then your username. There you should be able to enable downvotes. Unless your instance has them blocked entirely. Then you shouldn’t be able to see them.

Nah, Gmail does the exact opposite of what their server does. Gmail is extra lenient with how an address may look. While their server is extra strict.
